EXPLANATION: Yhwach doesn’t fight under normal combat rules. The main reason Goku cannot permanently defeat Yhwach is because of the passive and active mechanics of The Almighty. This ability allows Yhwach to see all possible future timelines simultaneously, like viewing your death. More importantly, it allows him to actively alter those futures. If Goku uses his superior speed to attack Yhwach and completely vaporize his body, Yhwach can simply see into a future timeline where he did not die, rewrite the current reality, and resurrect himself easily. Because Goku’s attacks are bound by linear causality meaning he attacks in the present to achieve a result in the future he cannot stop a being who can accurately rewrite the consequences of those attacks from the future itself.
