I mixed my mother's white and my father is black I'm 48 years old when I was in 7th grade and you had to take those aptitude tests. you had to mark your race and you could only pick one. my mother always told me to mark black but that day I decided to ask the teacher what I should mark down and he looked at me and said you look white to me Oh and there was also an option to pick "other" and I remember thinking to myself I'm a human being I'm not an other.

interesting to hear this I am a black woman with a biracial daughter who is your skin complexion. I ran downstairs. And asked her if she experienced anything like this and she said yes, one or two things. Never knew that thank you for sharing your story. I feel bad for not knowing this.
