On YAP, I sat down with entrepreneur and creator Gary Vaynerchuk (@garyvee), to talk about responsibility without self-destruction. His clarification is that accountability should remind you that you still have choices. It should not convince you that you are worthless, defective, or responsible for every harmful thing that happened to you. What this means: identify the actions that remain under your control. Change what you consume, who surrounds you, how you use your time, and how consistently you care for yourself. Accountability says, “I can respond.” Self-blame says, “I am the problem.” Does radical accountability create freedom—or can it become harmful when someone already has low self-esteem?
