Dave Roberts always makes a point of celebrating clinching playoff berths and when the Dodgers win each playoff series because there are players on the team who might never have experienced that level of success (whether rookie or journeyman) and they might not ever reach that point again - this might literally be the peak of their professional playing career. Doesn’t mean the job is done, it’s just a recognition of what they’ve done together so far. Good for the players, good for the sport.

I mean I don’t see the problem. For a team that everyone deemed doomed when they had injuries and no Judge, I feel this was an accomplishment. I get that it’s World Series or bust but you have to be in it to win the World Series. That’s something worth celebrating.

People have nothing else to do with their lives. How is it that we could tell them when or when not to celebrate their job that they did do they tell us went to do our job celebrations? It’s ridiculous. Let them celebrate like you said they have a lot of young guys on the team. It’s all good. They’re going to the playoffs that calls for celebration in my eyes and if they didn’t celebrate that been fine too it’s up to them not to us.

Thank you! By the way this is from 2007 when the Yankees also clinched a WC (they ended up losing the division by 2 games). Even the cour four and Jeter celebrated when they clinched. It’s what you do when you make it to the playoffs after the grind of an MLB season
