At one restaurant I managed, we had to fire a cook on his first day because he was having alcohol withdrawals so severe he was sneaking alcohol AND losing control of his bowels & trying so hard to hide it. It did not matter how much we felt for his situation or how much compassion we had for his struggle. We still had to remove him because he cannot be around food or the other cooks.
