I think there is, with stipulations. Tourists need to respect nature, bears (and all wildlife) as well as listen to their guides and rules set in place. Yes, we humans are the smartest animals on earth BUT we can't read minds of bears (all animals for that matter) and we aren't all skilled enough to know when a bear might think we are dangerous.

I grew up interior BC (black bear country) we never observed the bears, just backed away slowly until they left. I feel like observing bears this close to their habitat may make them more comfortable with human presence than should be normal. With tourists from other cultures not realizing the danger and booking with a tour group that doesn’t follow safe practices putting the bears and humans at risk…doesn’t seem worth it to me. I am very

I don't think it's either or. As with everything, a good balance is key. People still need to be in nature and learn it. Nature should also be respected and be left alone in places.

I so enjoy your adventures and questions. I think I would be in the second camp of conservation allies. I believe this earth was designed for both animals and humans and to think we can live exclusive from one another seems unrealistic and even more dangerous to both species. I’m curious to hear your thoughts and your Dad’s thoughts.

My only experience seeing bears outside of zoos is while camping, and while it's briefly terrifying (for normal people, there's something wrong with me), I am quite a fan of this method. We are both creatures existing in nature and we cross paths briefly, don't bother each other, and separate. I also do firmly believe that we as a species belong in nature, even with all our advancements, because that's where we came from and the disconnect we feel from nature is often manufactured by those that choose profit over life. Anyway, there is definitely a way to do this ethically imo, but the danger is the same as it is with everything: how do we protect well-being in a world where money is king?

I hate to ask as it is your page but I’m interested in how grandpa Rudy sees this type of viewing experience, I’d assume he’s seen hundreds of bears in his years of camping. Would this experience be considered useful from his experience with wildlife. Probably already asked.
