There aren’t a lot of things that make me genuinely angry in this business, but this is absolutely one of them. Recently someone took the cover of whispers of the deep, ran it through an AI program, and then published the book. Not only did they do that in English, but they did it in every single available language while generating just a slightly different cover. I have not received an apology from this author. I’m not entirely convinced they are an author considering they’ve published almost 30 books within the year. But what makes me even more frustrated is that when someone comes onto my post about it, arguing that the cover of whispers of the deep is simply too generic and cliché for anyone to argue that it could be stolen from, and then uses AI to prove their point, it really makes me feel like we have entirely lost the plot. This affects our entire industry. And like I said on Threads, which is where you can find this entire story if you wanna see the cover or compare them or do whatever you want, where are you spend your money matters After I posted about this, my book did not budget rankings. But the AI book jumped 30,000 higher in rankings and sold more books because I talked about it. That is an industry problem. And that’s nothing I can change or other authors can change or artists can change or publishers can change. That is something you as the reader need to change. #emmahamm #authorsoftiktok
