@the_imperialsrpg: Did you know? The Norwegian monarchy has a history that dates back over a thousand years, but the current Royal House of Norway belongs to a much more recent dynasty. 🇳🇴 The current royal family descends from the House of Glücksburg, which came to the Norwegian throne in 1905, with King Haakon VII, chosen as the first monarch of independent Norway after the dissolution of the union with Sweden. Haakon VII was the son of King Frederick VIII of Denmark and was born as Prince Carl of Denmark. Upon accepting the Norwegian throne, he adopted the name Haakon — reviving an ancient name from the Norwegian royal tradition. Today, the line of succession continues with his great-grandson, King Haakon. A millennia-old monarchy, a modern dynasty and a story that continues to be written. #norge #kingharald #theroyalfamily #monarchy
