I understand what he's saying but there's a reason for the disqualification which is the same reason certain disqualifications exist in jury duty. while having shared a similar or same experience may help you empathize with victims ot also makes you partial in judgements. Quick for the 💀 penalty even. Something most of us can agree on but the person in the jury who makes that decision has to come to that conclusion WITHOUT sharing said experience. Which sounds ridiculous on paper, but this rule exists specifically because of the injustice caused upon women in the first place (witch hunts) where a mob can be influenced to burn someone alive simply because they had a similar experience with a different stranger therefore all strangers who have similarities must be punished be the same. The disqualification exists to eliminate clouded judgements on any situation, affair, etc. For those of you who love Law and Order, this is often touched on multiple times throughout the series. Not letting one's personal feelings affect the case. Do I agree that victims of heinous crimes shouldn't pursue a career in justice and criminal investigation? No, not really. On the contrary, survivors should be afforded the opportunity to try. Why? Pattern recognition and intuition. If they've survived it before, they can spot it before it can happen again to someone else.
