Idea: I have a friend who was having severe issues with an open wound that would not heal. Eventually antimicrobial silver was used to pack the wound. It was like a miracle and it healed super fast. Not sure this would work for our Birdie girl but I just wanted to that info out there.

I want you to know- I work veterinary neurology, and Birdies story has given hope to many, many pet parents. I had clients who got the surgeries for their pets BECAUSE they saw Birdie living life in her chair running on the beach. So literally screw what the people who either have never worked rescue or haven’t worked vet med say.

I don’t know what birdies wound looks like however just speaking from my experience. My dog had a tumor on his his hip bone and had a 6 inch open wound due to the incision and tumor removal. The incision did go through his tail. Due to the tention and the area the would would not close. Visit after visit , emergency vets etc it was pretty much a dead end road. After hours of research we found PF wondersalve that’s used for horses. After applying 2-3x a day bandaging it the wound that was steadily going backwards finally started closing from the inside out. It was a journey but the amount of growth was amazing. It did take roughly 2 months to completely heal.

people that don't think this was a good decision or the right one.. what if this was your family member and they had to have the same surgery to live? they have put a lot of money, time, love and care into her to give her the best life she can ever have. Birdie is loving life even after the surgery. birdie will always rise above any of your negative words.

People seem to FORGET that those dead legs are an absolute infection risk every single day. Any injury to those legs could've killed her not to mention the spine separation you mentioned.
