A lot of Chicagoan’s don’t go fishing. During the pandemic, I went to the lakefront to chill and met a guy who informed me that salmon swim upstream through Lake Michigan and when’s the best time to catch them. He even gave me a brand new fishing pole to go catch some myself

The salmon are stock by the Illinois DNR. Just remember when you buy a fishing permit, there’s a special stamp (a separate additional charge) that you have to buy for salmon fishing in Lake Michigan

When I was a kid my dad would always take me fishing out a boat all damn day to catch salmon. Best tasting fish ever tho. Right out the lake into an iced cooler onto the grill.

Yeah but we dont eat em if caught close to docks or marinas. charter to deeper water for the “quality” (less nasty things in stomach) salmon

Na people that actually fish know exactly what kind we have here in Illinois. Not many know they spawn around the fall and thats why people are catching huge ones. People aren't catching them this easy all year round.
