@npr: Macklemore has been dropped from Ed Sheeran’s U.S. tour over comments supportive of Palestinians. Macklemore already opened for several shows of Sheeran’s stadium tour. While onstage, the rapper made comments in support of people in Gaza and the West Bank and used the phrase “Free Palestine.” He's been dropped from the remainder of the tour. Sheeran’s promoter, Messina Touring, told "Rolling Stone" that several U.S. venues refused to host concerts with Macklemore on the bill. In a statement posted on his Instagram, Macklemore claims that Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft called Sheeran and told him Macklemore would not be allowed at his venue. Kraft allegedly also rallied other venue owners against the performer over his political statements. These stadiums are funded by us, the taxpayers. This should invoke the 1st Amendment rights. Otherwise, remove all public funding from these venues. If the billionaires want to be in total control of what happens in the stadiums, let them fund them completely themselves without asking for handouts.
