In the middle of it all stood Winter Kim. Sweat clung to her jersey, her chest rising and falling as she tried to catch her breath. Her teammates screamed, and some of them are already crying as they hugged each other. Hundreds of cameras flashed everywhere, and rhe reporters are rushing closer to capture the historic moment. Winter barely noticed because her eyes were searching the sidelines. Because she knew exactly who she wanted to see. Across the court near the media area, Karina Yu was standing with her microphone, still in her press jacket with the logo of Ateneo de Manila University stitched on the chest. She had been reporting courtside the entire game, but now she was just staring at the celebration, smiling in quiet disbelief. When Winter finally saw her, her face lit up, and without hesitation, she broke away from her teammates and sprinted across the court. “WINTER!” Ryujin, one of her teammates yelled and laughed as she realized where she was going. Karina barely had time to react before Winter reached her. “Hey—!” Winter wrapped her arms around Karina and lifted her straight into the air. The crowd roared even louder. Karina gasped and giggled as she instinctively held onto Winter’s shoulders. “Winter!” “Kita mo ‘yon, mahal?!” Winter shouted, spinning her once before setting her down, breathless but glowing with adrenaline. “Of course I saw it, duh!” Karina said, still laughing. “I’ve been reporting the entire—” Winter leaned closer, her grin turning playful. “So…” she said. Karina blinked. “So…?” Winter tilted her head, eyes sparkling. “So… what’s my prize?” Karina froze for a second. Then her cheeks turned red as realization hit. “Oh my God…” she muttered. The nearby cameras immediately zoomed in. Winter folded her arms, pretending to wait patiently. “You promised, mahal.” Karina glanced at the screaming crowd, then back at her very smug girlfriend. “I can’t believe you’re doing this right now.” she whispered. The volleyball player pouted. “Alright then.” She jokingly turned around to leave but Karina stopped her. “Arte mo.” “Bakit ba? Hindi mo naman tinutupad usapan natin eh.” Karina shook her head and smile. “I promised to give you a kiss, didn’t I?” Karina grabbed the collar of Winter’s jersey and pulled her closer. Then she kissed her. Right there. In the middle of the court. The crowd absolutely lost their minds. Teammates from UST screamed from behind them, some jumping up and down while others covered their mouths in shock. Even reporters nearby burst out laughing at the unexpected moment.
