@thespectatormagazine: 'I would like people to feel that they are British' Rory Stewart argues that many young people descended from immigrant families are successfully integrating and assimilating into British life - horrifying the elders of their communities. #britain #society #identity
I agree with Rory mostly, but it does strike me that he probably doesn’t live in any of these places where these isolated communities exist, or sends his kids to state schools

So you are admitting that you don’t like Islamic culture, you prefer they take on British values?

How do you reconcile your belief that faith schools are bad but private/public schools are not? Personally I don’t see much difference between them - both exclude ‘others’ and create a bubble/echo chamber.

It's incredible that Rory can see child marriages in abroad and doesn't create the connection between bringing that to the west potentially.

I agree with him! Despite the fact the I believe that anyone can go to any religious school they want but like when I was a child - mainstream school is for everyone and then you do your religious outside school! I did it - but I also see how it divates people from their faith - drugs and alcohol and porn become normal as other bring it into play which in these school they wouldn’t be a thing-

the same alienation happens around Christianity as if it were somewhat superior, when it is racist, xenophobic, homophonic, intolerant, greedy and anti net zero.

We have a lot of kids from various communities playing up at school it’s not what you expect in some situations because you assume the parents are strict, but it’s wrong to think that. I think their idea of being British is mixed because even the younger generations seem to identify mostly with the parent’s home country even though they were born here. Having said that kids change once they reach adulthood. They’ll want the freedoms.
