love the video! slight amendment though, it wasn't a branch of the Rochdale canal, it was its own canal, the Manchester & Salford Junction canal. it goes under the city centre and is an almost entirely underground canal. the footpath under the road is actually part of the canal tunnel and the stones in the path are the coping edge stones.

I used to sit here on my dinner hour when I was working on a project in Manchester. I spent weeks everyday enjoying this spot 😌
