I got into a HEATED argument with an “Iranian” gay guy (didn’t even know he was half Iranian until he stated it to me like it gave him authority to bash Islam). I’m also gay and Egyptian and while im not a perfect Muslim I am Muslim. I had to tell him about himself and why his hatred was being misdirected and how a lot of his gripe was with the government of Iran not the religion of Islam.

It’s really about self hatred .. they don’t feel confident in who they are or what they believe and they’re afraid to be cast into a group that’s not that popular. As an Iranian American I grew up afraid to say I was Iranian Muslim everything and I look bad and I feel bad for that girl today. It’s a beautiful religion I wish to go to it

100% agree as an Iranian. Have heard so many bad things about afghans from my family, but all I’ve ever experienced and heard from afghans is love for Iranians. The only reason they don’t like us is bc we’re racist to them first, which is sadly true.

its likely due to the fact that, under the pahlavi dynasty, a large minority of iranians ended up distanced from faith, either becoming non practicing or atheist. This can be attributed to the cultural actions of the Pahlavi and to the fact that the country modernising may or may not have cause a decrease in theism. Pair this with Iran under the IRI antagonizing that group subsequently causing them to hate Islam. Afghanistan is a nation still under feudalism where the government does not have complete reach, let alone proper modernisation. Should there have been a secular government like the pahlavi which attempted to distance the country from theism it would not have succeeded. Pair this with the fact that no event has occurred to pull them away from their faith like it has with iran, and youll have one group of people who are very religious, and another who hate them. or im js yapping idfk

Growing up Afghan, I never knew there was so much racism towards us from the Iranians but as I got older I can see the different reactions of people when I speak with them and tell them I’m Afghan and not Iranian.

There are about 40 to 45 % or population in Afghanistan today is ( Persian Tajik Iranian ethnicity) the rest are Afghan AKA Pashtun and Hazara Uzbeck etc.
