Family law here. Our policy is 48 hours if it needs to be addressed by an attorney that’s because may be in court, mediation etc but the paralegal should respond with at least “Hi I’ve received your question/concern. _____ is in court today but I will let them know this concern and they will respond or I will relay any information they have.” Or they should schedule you a phone call.

Texas bar report. Butttt you should go to the county clerk’s office or the courthouse and ask this question. They are also going to say bar report but you might get a judge or clerk looped in and it’s like mentaly noted that YOU are trying to meet these deadlines and your basic due diligence was done and taken care of, now you are while staying in your lane trying to follow through.

Go to their office and tell them they are fired. Get the remainder of your retainer back and get a better lawyer

You send them a demand letter by mail that is notarized that they have this much time to answer your response and if they do not your contacting the state bar, still contact the state bar make a report attach all your emails for reference and then tell them they have this many days to give you your money back

Month is too long. Fill out the Texas Bar form that requests that they reach out to your lawyer to let them know you’re trying to contact them. It’s not a complaint, and it may well poison your relationship with the attorney. But if your issue is time sensitive, don’t be afraid to use the service. It’s free.

If it’s a family law attorney good luck, unless you put down a 20K retainer they could care less

The acceptable amount of time is what you accept. Unfortunately you need a new attorney.

contact them in writing to every email contact in that office..send the same email/letter to their office certified. they hate paper trails when it's regarding them.. you should get movement then

That’s way too long. My lawyer would get to me within 2 hours or less. Sometime their office would reach out sooner with a response just letting me know the plan.

What type of case? Zero recourse you’re looking for with attorney’s in 99.9% of cases. You’ve paid, they will gladly “release you” if you agree….obviously you start over.

My husband had an issue with this from someone in Beaumont too! Start leaving an email trail and submit a grievance through the bar! I’d also ask for an itemized monetary statement as well! If they’ve taken your money and not doing anything, file a grievance for that as well!

When I call my attorneys office w/ a question, my attorney himself calls me back the same day or the following day. I’d contact the state bar association / attorney generals office if I had issues with my attorney.
