@made_by_makayla: This piece was HUGE and a beast to refinish, but the acetone made it so much more manageable (yes, a lot more went into this transformation than just acetone, but saving hours on sanding by using it was a game changer) Here’s how I did it ⬇️⬇️⬇️ I used a combo of paper towels, a paint brush, and a small wire brush to remove the old finish. For flat areas, I laid out a layer of paper towel and soaked it with acetone. I let it sit for a few seconds and wiped off the old finish. I found this method worked the quickest, but it used way more product. I also used a paint brush, where I continually dipped in acetone and brushed on the piece until the finish loosened, then wiped that back with paper towel. I used the small wire brush for more detail areas/nooks and crannies. When I got most of the old finish off, I used paper towel dipped in acetone to wipe over the entire piece to ensure all of the old finish was off. *ALL of the old finish NEEDS to be removed for this method to work. Use a paper towel dipped in acetone to wipe over the whole piece, it should come back clean. Then, you are ready to stain. *NOTE that acetone unfortunately does not work for all old stains and finishes. Test a small area first if you want to use this method. When I was finished stripping with acetone, I moved on to a paint wash and stain like normal without having to do ANY sanding! #furnitureflipper #furnitureflip #furnituremakeover #dressermakeover #refinishedfurniture
