Genuine question. How do you dispose of the bodies? Because are they still contagious after death/do you have to do decontamination methods after handling the infected birds before going back to your healthy flock? I’m genuinely curious how containment works in these scenarios.

I know exactly how it feels we've lost over 50 this year because of a sickness called Mycoplasma gallisepticum and were still dealing with it.Farming is definitely not easy.Im so sorry for you lose.I hope yall figure out whats wrong with them.

It’s truly devastating. I lost my whole flock (of over 50) not to disease but to a wild animal in one night. We have three coops with secure fencing. It broke into all of them and dispatched every single chicken. It didn’t even eat any of them, just ripped them apart. I had seabrights, silkies, ayam cemanis, befielders from breeders not hatchery. I will never finically recover🥲

I would definitely recommend taking a couple of them for a necropsy so you can find out what the disease actually is, and if there’s anything you can buy in case your original flock contracts it… I am so so very sorry girl… I couldn’t imagine going through what you’re going through 😭

I would take one in for necropsy, so you can figure out exactly what you are working with. My last flock of 200 I had to cull myself because they had MG, MS, and ILT. I was devastated, but knew it was the right thing to do because they were suffering. I am so sorry you are going through this.

if you believe it's mycoplasma then treat your flock with denguard. They will recover. Those look like production reds which might lay extremely well but are not hardy at all.
