Realistically speaking, would someone like Squidward benefit from therapy? Where there's nothing wrong/different with his brain, but he's often in distress and depicted as overall unhappy. What would his mental health journey look like hypothetically?

I think he is depressed because of his surroundings (being overworked and underpaid, having no friends, his life being the exact same thing over and over,etc…) but I don’t think he would be if he was leading a normal life

Squidward reminds me of some autistic people I know where he’s really stressed out by unwanted social interaction, doesn’t care if he comes across as rude, and only really wants to spend time on his special interests (clarinet and art). But I can totally see that there wouldn’t be enough info there to actually diagnose him. I’m actually curious what you would make of SpongeBob!
