My mom went to the hospital and my partner of the last 3 years sent me a text about breaking up during first period today. I went to the bathroom for 2 minutes and came back with a smile on my face the rest of the day.

I had just started a new school and was supposed to do my “big” observation for the year. Right as I was beginning my lesson and my principal had just sat down, I saw on my Apple Watch that my mother had a stroke. I don’t remember teaching the lesson. I explained to my principal as soon as the lesson was finished and she made me go home. She was very supportive.

one day in the spring, they called all of the teachers into the library during arrivals. while our kids were sitting in our classrooms doing morning work, we were informed that our principal had committed suicide the night before. it was awful. it was my first year of teaching. we kept it together that day by the skin of our teeth. and the next week we had to do district testing.

I got my observation the day after my mother died. I was giving my lesson while sobbing the entire period. It was not a class that liked me at all. They were all silent. Just watching me try to speak clearly with great heaving sobs. It was the nicest they ever treated me. Ironically, or not, I’m not sure…it was a lesson on nonverbal communication. Paralanguage specifically. I don’t remember my evaluation score though.

Found out my grandfather passed 10 minutes before the start of P1. Had to work the whole day as if nothing had happened. Have also taught my classes while actively miscarrying, twice.

We found out 2 students passed in a car crash the night before. Called an emergency meeting the next morning. The whole school was devastated and we all had to keep going like nothing happened

I was going to check my mailbox during my planning period. the front office staff came running into the hallway telling me to come here immediately it is an emergency. I already got a call that day that my step-dad was taken to the hospital by ambulance. this call was to tell me that my nephew was in a fatal bus accident that killed two of his classmates. I went back to class, cried, and then wiped my face and taught my last class of the day.
