@whymarcuswhy: I know why Apple put an aperture in the iPhone 18 Pro. And it's not for blur. The sensor is tiny. Wide open at f/1.48, focus 12 ft away and everything from 6 ft to infinity is already sharp. Blur only shows up close. The point is light. Every iPhone since the 14 Pro shot at a fixed f/1.78. This one opens to f/1.48: a 45% bigger opening, roughly half a stop more light at night. In daylight it closes down to f/4, where lenses are sharpest. Half a stop. Useful, not magic.
