I don’t know what the future holds, however, I believe we have the choice every second of every day as to how we seed these systems, and IMHO the only way humans have any chance of survival is if all systems are Free/Libre Open Source Software, and every running code must be continuously checksummed so we are actually able to monitor issues as they happen for these systems we as humans are never going to be able to keep up with.
