It will stay with you, but if you love what you do you’ll be an amazing healthcare worker just always remember use your days off to decompress and make sure your mental is in a good place after or you will burn out much love from a cna❤️

See my patient code and pass away right in front of me then having to walk into my next patient room like I’m fine is something I’ll never be able to fully explain.

When my mom first started working as a nurse and she lost her first patient she was so heard broken after work she went to the closest bar and got the drunkest she’s even gotten her friends went to joined her understanding that in that moment she was grieving all the patients she’s was every going to lose because from then she never let it affect her again this was her job and she couldn’t let it destroy her every time a patient died, she wasn’t going to help anyone if she did let it affect her

The only thing not taught to you in med school, is this!! You’re human and have every right to feel that way but you will adjust. It takes a little time.

Yep, it’s tough. But that next patient needs you now. It takes some getting used to, but you can do it.

worked during Covid, obvious what has happening, during chaotic breakfast time, checked on him 15 minutes later, passed sitting up straight in the chair. Dead of winter - Popped the window open so fast! cranked up the ac, cried so hard, said short prayer and locked the door - went to the next resident as if nothing happened. Week prior, moment of clarity, “thank you you taking of of me” Anniversary is coming up 12/17/20, never forgot it!
