woah woah woah you can't not include the rest of his reply! stephens whole point was that when you suffer you're able to comfort those who suffer the same pain after you and by being able to do so you're able to connect and love on a deeper level. the "one thing he wishes never happened" was multiple family members dying in an accident. it's such a beautiful sentiment to be able to say "because this happened to me I can help someone else process their pain"

My fiance committed suicide in 2025. And my lord it still hurts to this day. But without her loss I wouldn’t be the man I am today. As much as I hate to admit it. I know she’s home. I know she’s safe. I know she doesn’t hurt anymore. And I know she’ll be there on the other side. But it is a gift to exist. And every moment I have I hope it makes her proud. But without loosing her I wouldn’t be me today. I love her and I never stop thinking about her. But life is for the living.
