Almost like romantic and platonic attraction are two different things🥲

Catherine I love you but,,,,, some of us are experiencing attraction, love, romance, etc in different ways -- people (like myself) on the ace spectrum may in fact be in love with our friends!!!

Very mono normative view though. Being queer is about questioning why that is and what works for you specifically

as a bisexual I have genuinely never had a female friend I was attracted to like that. i look at friends like I look at family. same with men (obviously).

The only difference between my friends & lovers is I’m not attracted to my friends. I love them though.

Ok but I’d have my feelings hurt if I found out even one of my friends didn’t want to sleep with me

Hot take cause it’s fun to pick a side for the sake of conversation… but it’s a case by case basis. Sometimes it’s a friend, sometimes it’s a stranger, sometimes it’s an acquaintance. Mother Nature dgaf. As long as everyone is safe and consenting, sex is beautiful. I really don’t like restrictive social rules around it that don’t serve a purpose.

It’s VERY different when you’re talking about polyam queers vs monog queers. 🤔

why are yall actin like she made a controversial take? it is perfectly fine to have STRONG boundaries between ur friends and non-friends. If you like to, fine! no one’s mad at you! But you’re not a “more evolved” queer person bc you like to F your friends. You don’t always need a moral justification for your actions, and you certainly don’t need to make it seem “close minded” for not wanting to f you friends 😭

I don't understand this. Why is it hard to not sleep with someone you are attracted to? Why can't we be friends with people we are attracted to and appreciate them for more then sex? It's weird that we treat people like there can be no self control in attraction.

well okay but there is a massive difference between someone sleeping with their friend while single and someone cheating with their friend while in a relationship. if everyone really is "evolved" then they should be able to trust that their partner wont violate clearly communicated boundaries such as "don't sleep with your friend now that we're together"

the major difference between polyamory and monogamy here. I think there is definitely something to be said about wanting to fuck ALL of your friends but some of them it's like "hey you're hot and I'm hot and we're both here and my partners out of town wanna help eachother out?" or "hey me and my partner have a big thing for group scenes, wanna help?"

The bean soup of this comment section is annoying. “But I’m poly! But I’m Demi!” THEN IT DOESNT APPLY. Their point is that not every queer person wants to sleep with their whole friend group and believing that should be the standard for queer people is WEIRD. Believing there should be a set standard for how queer friendships should be is WEIRD and ANTITHETICAL TO THE WORD QUEER. “Oh but sexual openness it’s what separates us from straight people.” Is that the only hook you hang your queerness on? Stop nitpicking and “what about me”ing your way into victimhood!

"Not if you're evolved" Same goes for straights. The idea that you want to sleep with your friends of your preferred gender is an emotionally immature take. I know she's talking about queer culture, but it's stumbled upon an essential truth that transcends sexuality.
