Met him years ago (I’m from the Seattle area) and he was SO kind. He’s a recovering addict and advocates for the community hard. I’m so happy people finally are seeing him in the light he is ❤️

When this song came out it gave people the opportunity to talk about gay marriage and I vividly remember being a young closeted lesbian and shyly asking my mom what she thought of gay people while this song played on the radio.

if yall havent, check out mary lamberts stuff. she’s a plus sized queer woman who has a bunch of really cute gay and also sad gay songs out. i listened to them as a teenager, saw her perform live with me then gf at the time and it was amazing. sobbed so hard.

🥰 as a now-ancient gay, it warms my heart to see mack getting his flowers for this one. it reads as cringe in 2026, sure.... but it was GROUNDBREAKING at the time for a straight, white, rapper to come out with a song like that! It certainly was NOT a popular stance at the time. As someone who dated a woman in the army (very briefly) while DADT still existed.... I appreciate you for appreciating him❤️❤️❤️
