A terrifying video has been released from Ukraine showing a fruit seller being chase around his van by a Russian drone in what the Ukrainian president has said it yet another example of its soldiers taking “pleasure in killing and abusing civilians”. “The Russians even admitted to the crime, showing zero regret and openly boasting about tormenting people,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X after sharing footage of the incident. The victim of the attack, a Kherson greengrocer called Yuri, was setting up his stall at 6.30am at a farmer’s market in Tsentralnyi when he heard the drone whirring overhead. Footage then shows the 52-year-old trying to evade the drone, which circles his stand, and appears to chase him before detonating. “I had no phone, nothing, just garlic cloves,” Yuri, who suffered multiple shrapnel wounds across his limbs and upper body said. ”I was cleaning garlic.” Yuri said he looked up at the drone making a praying gesture to indicate he was not a threat, while telling his wife to “run”. “There was about 200m to a shelter; some athletes could make it bit it was impossible for me,” he explained, saying that his van had already been destroyed in another drone strike. “There are no words. Maybe its battery is dying and it started chasing me just to kill anyone – I'm not a military target.” After the blast, Yui is seen sitting down, blood soaking his clothing. President Zelenskyy said that many people were “shocked” by the video, but it was not a one-off, rather part of a drone “safari” being carried out against civilians in Kherson. “The world must see this,” he wrote on X. “It must see every piece of evidence that Russia has gone mad and that its soldiers take pleasure in killing and abusing civilians. “Without pressure on Russia, the dismantling of its capacity for aggression, and real security guarantees, it is simply impossible to imagine the world being able to coexist with this evil. “We must remain resolute in defending life. We must act and support life in ways that force Russia to seriously think about peace rather than expanding the range of its drones. This is not just about Ukraine. Russia’s campaign against human life must be stopped here in Ukraine before it spreads further.
