So, you didn't actually read the comics, did you? The baby's name was Christopher Charles Summers when he was born. It was retconned during Inferno that Maddy secretly named him Nathan after the bully at the orphanage just to screw with Scott. The bully who was Essex who also ran the orphanage. It was changed because when Liefeld introduced Cable he wasn't supposed to be their future baby at all.

Missing, Presumed Fed :
In fairness, Nathan Charles Christopher Summers is named after *all 3* of his grandfathers.

Cyclops :
The name Nathan was actually forced onto the baby through mind control and genetic manipulation by the villain Mr. Sinister.

I feel like Jean should just, not have any say in any Nathan matters whatsoever, like yes, you had some bad times, but like, bruh, you took her kid, husband, and sense of existence and went told her to shove off, of course shes gonna be a supervillain

😃 Maddy named him Nathan because Scott had a bully named Nathan, so he's always hated that name. (we love a petty bitch)
