This six-bottle case of Dom Pérignon 2002 manages both. 2002 is one of the great modern Champagne vintages, but this particular release is remembered just as much for its connection to Andy Warhol, with Dom Pérignon’s normally restrained label transformed through bold Pop Art-inspired colour. The link feels particularly fitting. Warhol had written about Dom Pérignon decades earlier, fascinated by the idea of laying Champagne down for the future and wondering who might eventually be there to drink it. That thought feels rather different when you’re opening a case more than twenty years after the wine was made. I have a few bottles of the Rothchild 75 I believe at the Andy Warhol in my cellar. I’m sure that’s I know the vintage wasn’t the best in 75 one of the reason they picked Worrall was to hopefully bring the vintage up to a higher standard wishes, which is probably true as as far as quality, but just the whole artistic part of it all.
