@wfsbnews: Under the proposal, employees who worked more than 32 hours in a workweek would be eligible for overtime pay. The standard 40-hour workweek was established in law nearly 90 years ago, according to Takano. “Since then, cellphones, the internet and now AI have increased worker productivity, but the profits have been largely concentrated at the top by billionaires and corporations. Work has fundamentally changed. It’s time that labor standards caught up,” Takano said. Sanders and Takano argue that changes in wages are not equivalent to the increase in labor production. There is absolutely NO WAY this will pass, especially if they will be required to pay us for that lost time. lol. These companies need profit and they are already paying most people the least amount they can..

And how do you ensure that the employer is going to maintain your current level of pay on a 32 hour week? Let’s be honest. what’s going to happen is you’re going to pass a law that overtime starts at 32 hours. Employers are going to cut hours back to 32 hours. They’re going to hire more people to backfill the needed hours and not pay overtime. It’ll be good for the government because it’ll create new jobs. It’ll be bad for the working class because they’ll lose eight hours of pay per week. Again making the poor more poor

This isn't the answer. the answer is bringing up the minimum wage and capping inflation. people say that people working McDonald's shouldn't be expecting a livable wage but that's exactly what minimum wage is supposed to be. the minimum amount of money that you need to sustain living. if you work 40 hours a week at any job you should be able to afford a home, food, personal items, there is no reason to make a 32-hour work week for what salary workers. they're not the ones that are barely making it. the people who are not making it at all are not salary workers so the only way to fix it is to increase the minimum wage. and before anybody comes at me no I do not work a minimum wage job. This is just common sense and I want society to freaking work.
