I would have protected my son if any grown man hitting my child, any man would do the same!!! I think the judges decision was wrong, they are saying that it's better not to protect your child. running to the cops is useless, the courts are a joke now a day. They give pitiful sentences to people causing people great harm, which let's them know that it's ok to do what they wish to others
