@kwpriorrealtor: Arizona’s minimum wage is going up again. But is it actually keeping up with what it costs to LIVE here? Starting January 1, 2027, Arizona’s statewide minimum wage is expected to increase from $15.15 to $15.65 an hour. That’s a 50-cent raise. For someone working 40 hours a week all year, it comes out to about $1,040 more in gross pay annually, which isn’t much. The increase isn’t random. Arizona law requires the minimum wage to be adjusted annually based on inflation. This year’s calculation reflects a 3.4% increase in the Consumer Price Index. Why does this matter if you’re thinking about moving here? Because researching Arizona’s cost of living isn’t just about comparing home prices. You need to look at what jobs actually pay here, what housing costs in the part of the Valley you’re considering, and how far your paycheck will realistically stretch after groceries, utilities, childcare and everything else. It also matters to our local restaurants, shops and other small businesses that will need to account for higher payroll costs starting next year. And while an extra 50 cents an hour helps, I think the bigger question is whether wages are keeping pace with the life people are trying to afford here.
