@save.american3: Stephen Miller sounds absolutely terrified of what could happen if Republicans lose Congress in November. For months, Trump’s deputy chief of staff has been warning conservatives that a Democratic takeover would mean “game over.” He has also claimed Democrats would use congressional power and law enforcement to target Trump and other political opponents. And that raises an obvious question: Why is the Trump White House so worried about investigations? Democrats have made no secret of the fact that, if they retake the House, they plan to launch aggressive oversight into the Trump administration, issue subpoenas and investigate officials who they believe abused their power. That does not mean Congress can simply throw Donald Trump into prison. Criminal charges require prosecutors, evidence, courts and due process. But Republicans clearly understand something important about November: Control of Congress also means control of powerful investigative committees. For nearly two years, Trump has governed with Republicans protecting him on Capitol Hill. If that protection disappears, the questions could come fast. Maybe that’s why Stephen Miller keeps sounding so nervous. Accountability apparently feels terrifying when you've spent years avoiding it.
