This is why I've redefined "evil" to something which is actually objective: i.e. that which necessarily produces the context of its own demise. To my mind, "evil" is the spiritual antithesis of "sustainable."

Respectfully, I disagree. If an alcoholic, who is open about his alcoholism and participates in his recovery and treatment, but then as a relapse, gets behind the wheel, and destroys a family, does he get to defend himself by saying that he was out of his mind because he was sick or is he responsible for his actions?

At a certain point, thinking too far into a subject muddies the view, and humanizing someone to the point of allowing their atrocity to be validated makes you a participant in their crime. She murdered her children, that means she has the potential, at the very least, to be a threat to society… to people around her. That is enough.

Everyone has their own victim story. Murder is murder. These children were strangled by their mother. I don’t care what gender a person is… “mental defect” or not.. we cannot have a two tier justice system. Where one gender gets a pass to kill off their kids and the other doesn’t. Society deserves everyone be equal under the law.

Oh the horror, abandoning children in a world that is in the United States, in a $800k house in a nice neighborhood, with a father that makes good money, grandparents actively involved in their lives, a world where every picture of the children show them with giant smiles on their faces. This is without question a life that is remarkably better than 99.9% of humankind has experienced.
