But the reality is even if it’s not real it’s great quality for $30. If you love it, get it! It’s ok if not everything is top quality or the most expensive

So, the black on the sides can just be an edge coating. It definitely still can be full grain leather.

I'm so glad I was aware of this when I went to Florence. I went to. Scuola del Cuoio and got a beautiful purse. I have had it for over a year and you can't tell. It's stunning.

loved bottega del giglio but the lining inside my bag was so poorly done, the stitching came out and glue wore down in less than a year of owning it 💔

My parents went to Italy and at first I hated the purses my mom got me. The one I have that matches hers that I complimented was way smaller than I thought, and the other has the widest strap known to man. But the first is an easy non-clear concert wallet on a crossbody and the second is incredibly comfortable because it distributes the weight

I agree with everything except when the side looks different then the color on the edge is darker or black, in leatherworking we have something called edge paint and we use it to color the edges, gives it a cleaner look rather than a raw ride look, doesn’t mean anything other than it was a construction preference but since edge paint is expensive most artisans just stick to black

Love this advice. Someone who knows what they're looking for. Sadly I bought a "silk" scarf from Italy with the "100% seta" tag n all but eventually found that same scarf sold on Ali express. Sad

I mean a lot of them at that particular market you showed are still great quality for like $20-30 USD. Still using a leather tote I got there years ago and while the seams aren’t that sturdy, the leather itself is holding up so well.
