It’s an unfortunately omnipresent trend throughout history, admittedly, of the poor and middle-class being driven to fight others’ wars because of their economic situations: we have much in common with the poor landless urban Roman who joins the legions for the promise of wealth and a homestead to retire upon, and the nomad becoming a mercenary for the Chinese dynasties because it’s much more lucrative than herding sheep and goats, and so many desperate others throughout history.

Did you see about the two Hispanic guys going to enlist I believe for the Marines that they were stopped and beat up by ice there’s a bunch of videos out there. I hope they change their mind into trying to enlist for a government that doesn’t care about that.

The military is definitely "a way out." Fellow Veteran here (Navy). 2026 (years prior too) has been an absolutely horrible year for me, even up until this very moment. I return to the Navy in some days now. As far as Recruiters go, I know several honorable ones and I know when we have our weekly live streams, spreading awareness, we are transparent about a lot. Various things are out of our control, so I'll stop at that. I will say I've had the most career & financial security being Active Duty. I have no family support (I never have) and "friends" and acquaintances can be fake oftentimes, so you can't rely on them to support you in business. I've had free healthcare for a number of years now, so there's that.
