@stereogum: Yesterday, @Macklemore revealed he was dropped from @Ed Sheeran’s tour following his onstage comments about the genocide in Gaza. “[Ed’s] typical apolitical stance was being challenged in a way it never had been before,” the rapper wrote, noting that billionaire Patriots/Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft gave the pop star an ultimatum and rallied other venue owners to cancel concerts where Macklemore was scheduled to perform. Sheeran released a statement today. “I am appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine,” he wrote. He added that Macklemore’s removal was “the promoter’s decision.” “I am not complicit,” continued Sheeran, who performed at Kraft’s 2022 wedding. “I have my personal views on this devastating conflict. Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn’t mean I don’t have them, and it doesn’t mean I don’t care.” Today, all three remaining support acts on Sheeran’s Loop Tour — @aaron rowe, @FINNEAS, and @Lukas Graham – quit, as did Sheeran’s backing band @Beoga.
