@nat5baronderothshild: MUSIC Music is one of the seven liberal arts. The word "muse" comes from Greek, signifying inspiration, poetry, harmony, and enchantment. Across all civilizations, music has been cultivated through songs and instruments—initially percussion, followed by wind instruments, and later string instruments; today, electronics allow for the creation of an immense variety of sounds. Music has the gift of setting the atmosphere for meditation and spiritual worship; it not only soothes, delights, and comforts but can also heal certain nervous disorders. Esoterically, sounds penetrate human beings so deeply that they bestow harmony and peace. Plato articulated the concept of the "music of the spheres"—that is, the song of angelic beings. Everything in the universe is sound, which in turn is both matter and spirit. Plants and animals feel the influence of music and enjoy listening to it. We all need harmonious moments in our lives; moments of good music comfort us and lead us toward noble, highly spiritual thoughts. In Masonic sessions, the Master of Harmony always provides musical programs suited to the liturgy, creating moments of ecstasy.
