@alkalineherbshop: A 2025 review in The Lancet Public Health looked at 57 studies with more than 160,000 adults from over ten countries. Walking about 7,000 steps a day was linked to a 47 percent lower risk of death from any cause compared to 2,000 steps a day. It was also linked to a 25 percent lower risk of heart disease, 38 percent lower risk of dementia and 22 percent lower risk of depression. Going up to 10,000 steps gave almost no extra benefit. The researchers said 7,000 is a more realistic goal for most people than 10,000. That is roughly an hour of walking spread across the day. Park farther away, take the stairs, walk after dinner. The number on your phone matters less than getting up and moving most of the day.
