I won’t lie, Robert Englund’s acting makes you forget that Freddy Kruger was always meant to be a pedo. They did move from that angle as the movies progressed, but the intent is there.

Freddy is my favorite because he is fully evil. there is nothing forgivable about him. Robert's performance is amazing and makes the character for sure. that's why I hated the remake so much. 90% or if the runtime is dedicated to making you question, if freddie kruger is actually evil

This reminds me of why I like the Terrifier movies so much. Art is supposed to be a total creep, and especially in the first movie that feels like an extreme take on incel horror. But the performance is so fun and creepy, his actor does such a good job

2010s definitely lacked all the comedy, charm and creativity that made the first ones so special. almost like they forgot how powerful he was supposed to be to begin with as a supernatural entity.

Media literacy and common sense is killing creative story telling. I will never understand why people hate on characters like Freddy and fans of him. You explained everything perfectly here. It sucks that so many "horror fans" can't wrap their heads around the concept "bad person can be entertaining but but still bad"

Yes!!! His sense of humor got me through my own horrible childhood. Robert embodied that character and I enjoyed every minute. He LITERALLY taught me to laugh at life's horrors. If people don't like it, don't watch it.

I’ve already commented on this on my other account but I have so many thoughts about this exact topic. Freddy is one of my top favorite slashers and has been since I was in middle school. Part of it is because these movies got me into horror (as I mentioned in my other comment) but also because Freddy was such an alluring bad guy. Unfortunately people side eye me and other NOES fans because of the type of person Freddy is. But enjoying a movie or character doesn’t mean you endorse a character. I wish people would realize that. Robert’s performance really sells the character. Freddy is irredeemable. He’s truly evil. He is a villain through and through. But he’s also charismatic and even humorous at times. Robert’s performance really pulls you in. He’s one of my favorite horror villains and I’m constantly saying, “God, I hate him”. I think people have forgotten that you can enjoy characters that you don’t morally align with.
