The same can and is true to witchcraft too. I hear a lot of witches with this mindset asking these questions ie shadow work or “you are the alter”. But maybe that’s a witchcraft that heavily takes from magick rather than folk or even some cases new age traditions?

I also have many scientist friends who are very pagan as paganism is very helpful in ecological conservation. Funny how we are coming full circle, science was birthed from magic, we became separated from it for a bit and now we are returning to it as we realize this universe always was as strange as we believed. Science and rigorous study only confirmed it, not disproved it

All you stated about egos, fears and need from control is why shadow work is important before attempting to do ritual, spell or magical work -- whatever you personally want to call it. Conquering inner demons not only helps purify someone's intent, it also makes it more difficult for external energies or spirits come at somebody.

Its all within you. It doesn't require ritual, intermediaries, or validation. The ether is in the in-between, its not about intention, want, what, where, or who. Its just an is. Nothing can be added to it, nothing taken away. All we can do is shift the constituents of the never changing sum. Attempt to manipulate it and you might see a small spark. Learn to inspire it and you can weave entire worlds.
