I met a driver in Thailand that was from Laos. He said his dad has a farm and they still find explosivs on it 😳 very sad what us has done.

love that you covered this, my one small note is that while we pronounce laos as lao, we still spell it as standard english does with the s, bc i did see some responses to comments spelling laos as lao, that being said, i really appreciate the attention to detail and how considerate you are being pronouncing laos correctly

my family is from laos! my grandpa fled with my dad, aunts, grandma and became refugees. they were able to come to the united states because the catholic church was willing to “help” them if they agreed to join the church, so my dad and aunts got baptized when they were little lmao.

One of my besties in college fled Lao in the 70s -her father was working for the US military. She and her grandmother traded family valuables for safe passage. Eventually her dad came stateside also. But much of her family remains in Lao. I had NO clue about this part of the war until I met her. Thanks for this thorough explanation.
