Once you've entered, your visa is active and you can work 3. Get a TFN (Tax File Number)📄 This is one of the biggest things you need before starting work. You’ll apply through the Australian Taxation Office. This can be done online once you have your work visa. 4. Open an Australian bank account 💵 Your employer needs somewhere to pay your wages. You'll generally provide your Australian bank account details when you start the job. 5. Get a superannuation account 👵🏼👴🏻 Your employer generally has to pay superannuation for you if you're eligible. You can choose a super fund or your employer may arrange one for you. You can always update this in the future if you decide. 6. Check your work restrictions 🚫 This is important on a WHV, you don’t want to compromise your visa. The standard rule is that you can generally work for one employer for up to 6 months, although there are significant exemptions, including certain construction, mining, oil and gas work and other specified industries 7.
