@missy23232: Career and interview tips from a talent executive who spent 20+ years on the other side of the table. If you haven't gotten critical feedback in a while, that's not a good sign, so ask your boss what your blind spots are before someone else notices them first. After 20+ years making talent and people decisions at the executive level, I've seen the same mistakes cost great candidates great opportunities. These videos exist so you don't have to learn the hard way. #careertips #careeradvice #professionaldevelopment #workplacetips #jobsearchtips

It seems like the only ones who progress or get promoted are the ones who kiss ass and don’t work. I’m exhausted.

Somebody told me that once you reach a professional level, you should not ask for feedback. Not sure how to approach it.

I have had this conversation with my boss. But he ultimately says that I’m doing everything right. If I push a little bit, he says only small things 😞

Ironically, I’m seeing this as I’m waiting for my performance review. I’m going to make sure this question is asked today :)

Another perspective is that the leaders dont know how to give feedback. I've heard them keep on saying, 'you are doing great, perfect, etc' and literally have no clue how to give feedback. With the layoffs as high as it is today most leaders are still in training wheel's trying to learn to do their job first, therefore good leaders quite rare today.

yeah, but isnt the feedback relative and just someone’s personal opinion and that could change based on whoever you’re talking to?

What if the feedback is consistently “say yes more” or “be willing to take on more,” but leadership doesn’t acknowledge the capacity, risk, or quality tradeoffs that come with that? At what point is pushing back healthy leadership rather than being viewed as resistant?
