@hospicenursepenny: Maybe we don’t say they lost their battle with cancer, they won it because they took the cancer down with them like a kamikaze pilot ##Kamikaze##Hospice##HospiceNurse##CancerSucks##battle
You know what? I never really liked that saying either. Im going to use this as well.

I've always hated that expression, too. If a soldier dies in battle we don't describe their death as them losing the battle. Can you imagine? "Lt. Anderson returned home today after losing their battle at Fort Pierce." No, we say something like, "this brave patriot gave their life to their team and their beliefs." Why don't we give cancer deaths a similar dignity?

“Warrior” “battle” “fight” “heroic”, we use words with so much personal weight, responsibility, and identity in how we describe our experiences with illnesses, sometimes to a fault - I love the perspective you shared 💙

totally agree! Saying someone "lost their battle" to cancer, as if it's a moral failing of theirs. One doesn't lose their battle to cancer they died from cancer.

My dad said he’d rather die from the treatment than the cancer, he was terminal no matter but the treatments were to hopefully give more time. He fought until the very end. ❤️🩹 cancer is the worst. 😭

Sometimes beating cancer means being free from it finally. Being free from pain, from needles, from hospitals. It means having the amazing chance to walk eternity with happiness and peace 🤍
