@bornforthisfaith: Everyone saw a Roman soldier. Jesus saw a faith He had not found among His own people. The centurion did not ask for a sign. He did not consider himself worthy. He simply believed Christ’s word carried enough authority to heal from a distance. “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word…” — Matthew 8:8 And Jesus marveled. At every Mass, the Church places the centurion’s words upon our lips before we receive the Eucharist not because we are worthy, but because one word from Christ can heal what no one else can reach. His story reminds me not to judge a soul only by what I can see on the surface. Sometimes beneath disbelief, resistance, or even anger, there is a wound and grace is already moving toward it.
