@childlossreplaygrief: Why does it hurt when people stop mentioning my child? Sometimes family and friends think: I don’t want to remind them. I don’t want to make them cry. I don’t know what to say. But many bereaved parents do not need to be reminded that their child died. They already know. Research on continuing bonds has helped change the older idea that grieving requires completely leaving the person who died behind. Remembering, talking about, and carrying an ongoing connection with someone who died can remain meaningful. At Anchored Heart Love®, I make this distinction: Saying your child’s name did not create the grief. The grief was already there. Sometimes hearing their name simply says: I remember them too. If you know a bereaved parent’s child by name… do not assume silence is always safer. #ChildLoss #SayTheirName #GrievingParents #BereavedParents #ContinuingBonds
