@thebraincoach: When you feel low, your brain may tell you to stay in bed, cancel plans, ignore people, or put things off. The problem is, the more you pull away from life, the fewer chances you have to feel better Behavioral activation is a strategy often used for low mood and symptoms of depression. The basic idea is that low mood can make you want to do less, but doing less can keep the low mood going. So instead of waiting until you feel like doing something, you choose one small action that moves you back toward your life Go for a short walk. Take a shower. Text someone back. Start the task for five minutes. When we feel low, motivation is often one of the first things to disappear, so waiting to feel motivated can keep us stuck. Behavioral activation flips that around: you act first, even in a small way, and give your brain more chances to experience movement, connection, accomplishment, or enjoyment And to be clear, sometimes you really do need rest. Slowing down is not a problem But if rest has turned into days of withdrawing, avoiding, and waiting until you feel motivated to do anything, try behavioral activation On the other hand, if you feel like your symptoms are more severe than low mood (i.e. depression), then doing anything might be very very hard and I highly encourage you to work with a professional Don’t wait for your mood to change before you act. Sometimes changing what you do is what helps your mood begin to change Take care of your mind and body. Love, Nawal ♥️ #emotionregulation #MentalHealth #SelfCare #psychology wellness
