@simply_akay4786: I cremated my son because I knew I wouldn’t survive having to leave him in the ground. I knew myself. I knew that if Thomas were buried somewhere, knowing his body was right beneath my feet, I would never want to leave that grave. I would have wanted to dig through the earth with my bare hands just to get to him, just to hold my baby one more time. I know that may sound unbearable or even irrational to someone who has never lost a child. But grief like this isn’t rational. A mother spends her child’s entire life protecting them, reaching for them, holding them when they hurt. Then suddenly you’re expected to walk away while your child remains behind. I couldn’t do that. So I chose cremation. Not because I wanted to let him go, but because I knew I couldn’t. I needed to be able to keep him close to me. I needed to know there would never be a place in the ground calling me back because my son was underneath it. I needed to be able to take my boy wherever life takes me/us. It was one of the most devastating decisions I have ever had to make, but it was the decision I knew I could live with. And unless you’ve had to decide what to do with the body of the child you gave birth to, loved, raised, and would have given your own life for, it may be impossible to fully understand. #tkforever16💕 #childloss #grievingmom No parent EVER should have to make this decision and there isn’t a right or wrong choice here, it’s a decision we never should have had to make. In a cemetery or in an urn, it’s the worlds worst feeling and pain that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

I spent 3 days at the cemetery when my son was buried. the cops came n took me to the psych ward. I spent 2 weeks there. I never tried to hurt myself. I just laid on the fresh dirt crying. don't judge what u don't understand.

I was going to cremate my son. My Dad kind begged me not to. I agreed. This might sound odd to some. But I buried him in a sweatpants and sweatshirt. I wanted him warm.😔

I cremated my son because after the drugged driver crashed into his car, it burst into flames and his body was already burnt beyond recognition , and there was nothing left for me to see. I cremated him, but still buried his ashes in a cemetery so that I could visit him. Life is so freaking unfair. Please drive sober and memory of my precious son Maximus, forever 16. He should still be here. 💔💔💔💔

I cremated my son for the same reason. I was 20, he was 8 weeks old. I’m 25 now, his birthday is next week.

My 16 year old son passed away four weeks ago in a ATV accident. I had him cremated because my husband and I just wanted him home with us. It’s a hard decision either way and one that no parent should ever have to make.

We chose cremation because we couldn’t leave him at the cemetery. The first parent to pass will also be cremated and both urns will be buried with the last parent to pass. Jake F17

I watched my parents bury my teenage brother in 1997. My dad visited his grave 17 miles from home every day for over a year. He said “it’s the last place I left him. I feel closest to him there.” It is something I never wish on anyone. I saw what it did to my parents. Even 29 years later, it is still raw.

The hardest decision I have ever had to make was the day we were sitting with the funeral director, making arrangements for my son. I remember walking away for a moment, and for some reason, a thought came to my heart: Jesus was buried. I turned around, went back, sat down, and said, “Let’s have a traditional funeral. Let’s bury him.” And since that day, 2 years, 1 month, and 20 days ago, I have visited the cemetery almost every day. I pray the Rosary, I talk to him, and I play his favorite music. I know that his body rests there, but I also know that his soul is in Heaven. I know he is with God, and I know he is with me wherever I go. Yes, a part of me died with him that night. But I will carry him in my heart for the rest of my life, just as I carried him in my womb. A mother’s love does not end when her child leaves this world—it simply learns how to carry them in a different way. I will continue to visit him, pray for him, remember him, and love him until the day God calls me home and we are together again. Sending hugs, love, and prayers to every mom who has lost a child. You are not alone. 🙏🏼❤️

I buried my son in 2008 at the age of nine. He had battled leukemia since the age of four. I’m still devastated. You never get over it, but I have to go on for my wonderful, intelligent and beautiful daughter.
